LA Times loves Taylor Mac’s Royce Hall show

March 14, 2016

As we ramp into the final 7 months or so of “A 24-Decade History of Popular Music,” we are touring extensively — both to workshop the show and learn the songs, and to bring Taylor’s brilliant community-building lovefest to as many people as possible.

This past Saturday we had a tremendous show at Royce Hall (UCLA). There were many highlights, but perhaps my favorite moment was sitting on stage and listening to Taylor Mac sing “Love Will Tear Us Apart” with Mariachi Reyna, an all-female mariachi troupe from LA. They are incredible musicians — we were so blessed to have them join us.

The band kicked ass, including three local musicians we picked up to fill us out to a 10-piece. Taylor was in top form, and the LA Times offered their praise in this review, which hopefully gives you a sense of the project and what the show was like.

On to Minneapolis next!
