MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: We’re thrilled to let you all know that our book, BARK OF MILLIONS: Queer Songs for the Living Library of the Deviant Theme, by Taylor Mac and Matt Ray, will be published on September 29, 2026 by Black Dog & Leventhal. This is a companion to our rock opera Bark of Millions, and transforms the experience of our show into a glorious songbook!!! We’ve made a two-volume book that includes melodies, chords, lyrics, and essays, and comes in a beautiful slipcase. Book I contains Taylor’s lyrics in poem form as well as original essays Taylor has written, and Book II contains music lead sheets for 50 of the songs from the show with music engraving by Cory Davis. Both contain absolutely gorgeous illustrations by Zach Blumner and design by Nina Simoneaux.
The two books are designed to be used together, with some folks reading lyrics and some reading music, and all singing along and learning and enjoying the songs. The songs themselves are inspired by queer figures, past and present, and we feel that there is something special and unique about a book of songs inspired by queer people, and also written by two queer people.
